A honey extractor is a mechanized device used to extract honey from the frames without damaging them.

Prior to the invention of the honey extractor, the combs that the bees created on the frames were smashed into pieces in order to extract the honey, forcing the bees to build the entire comb again from scratch.

Honey extractors are either manually operated or electrically powered. As the name suggests, manual honey extractors require physical labour to spin the frames, while with electric honey extractors, you can sit back and let it do all the work for you. Of course, electric extractors are more expensive than their manual counterparts.

Non commercial honey extractors generally hold up to 2 to 8 frames at a time.
